Next-Gen Hospitality: Cyprus Joins the Global Gastronomy Elite

Cut Student Aleks Litchev Sweeps the “Young Talents Escoffier” Awards

Aleks Litchev Ranks First in Europe and Fourth Globally at the Young Talents Escoffier Competition

In the world of haute gastronomy, where detail isn't just a preference but a prerequisite for survival, a student from the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) has managed to capture the attention of the global elite. Aleks Litchev, representing the School of Tourism Management, Hospitality, and Entrepreneurship, has proven that "Made in Cyprus" talent knows no borders.

The journey began at the historic Westminster Kingsway College in London. There, during the Young Talents Escoffier European Competition, Litchev under the mentorship of instructor Michalis Charalambous delivered a masterclass in high-end service. The result? A Gold Medal in the Service Category.

This wasn't just a win; it was a demonstration of skills in a high-stakes arena that demands deep enological knowledge, guest psychology, and absolute crisis management under pressure.

His success in London served as a ticket to the World Final in Paris in April 2026. In the "City of Light," at the legendary EPMT (École de Paris des Métiers de la Table), Aleks faced off against the world's top rising talents. He was evaluated by the strictest jury on the planet, including holders of the Meilleur Ouvrier de France (MOF) title the "Olympic" distinction for hospitality professionals in France.

Securing 4th place in the world is more than just a ranking. It is a seal of approval, confirming that Cyprus is now exporting expertise and excellence in the luxury hospitality sector.
