In its official statement, the DFMR noted that, immediately after the incident was identified, all relevant operational protocols were activated, and appropriate anti-pollution measures were promptly implemented. These efforts were further continued by the Cyprus Ports Authority.

“Thanks to the coordinated actions of the responsible authorities, the pollution was effectively contained, preventing any impact on adjacent coastal areas—aside from the possible temporary presence of isolated traces of oil residue,” the statement added.

The DFMR emphasized that it continues to monitor the situation closely, conducting daily inspections along the Limassol coastline.

To date, the statement concludes, no new signs of oil pollution have been detected. The Department also assures that it remains ready to intervene again, if necessary, in accordance with established procedures.
