Winter Arrives in Troodos as First Snowfall Covers the Peaks

Snow creates postcard scenes while drivers are advised to take extra care.

Troodos was dressed in white following last night’s snowfall, offering scenes of winter magic across its highest peaks. Dense frost and accumulated snowflakes weighed down tree branches and covered the ground, transforming the landscape into a crystalline winter setting.

The first snowfall brought a few centimetres of snow to mountainous Cyprus, which may increase during the day before gradually melting. According to today’s forecast from the Department of Meteorology, further snowfall remains possible on the highest peaks of Troodos.

At the same time, Police have issued an appeal to drivers to exercise increased caution due to low temperatures and light snowfall in the area. The use of anti-skid chains is recommended on the Karvounas–Troodos, Platres–Troodos, and Prodromos–Troodos roads. Traffic on these routes is permitted only for four-wheel-drive vehicles or vehicles equipped with anti-skid chains.

Winter has made its presence felt in Troodos, offering postcard-like images while reminding visitors to enjoy the scenery with care and safety.
