Where to Watch the Total Lunar Eclipse in Cyprus on September 7
Troodos Observatory hosts a limited-seating event to watch the rare astronomical phenomenon.
The Troodos Observatory is organizing a special event for observing the Total Lunar Eclipse visible from Cyprus on September 7. In its announcement, the Observatory notes that the number of available seats for participation in the event is limited.
According to the Observatory, the phenomenon will be fully visible from Cyprus during its main phases. The moon will rise at approximately 18:59, already in progress through the penumbral phase, which is barely visible to the naked eye.
At 19:28, the partial eclipse will begin as the moon starts entering Earth’s shadow.
At 20:30, the moon will be completely covered by Earth’s shadow, taking on the familiar red glow of totality.
The eclipse will reach its maximum at 21:12, when the moon will be 24° above the eastern horizon, passing through the darkest central part of Earth’s shadow.
At 21:52, the moon will begin to exit the shadow, and about an hour later, it will start leaving the penumbra as well. The phenomenon will end at 23:55, with the moon positioned 47° above the southeastern horizon.
Announcements about organized observation events will be posted on the Troodos Observatory website and on its social media platforms.
