Shipping Deputy Ministry Secures Land for New Headquarters
A Significant 17,737 sq.m Plot of State Land Near Limassol Port
The Cypriot Ministry of Shipping is poised to secure its own dedicated building, as revealed by sources to Brief. Deputy Minister, Marina Hadjimanoli, confirmed this development, noting the government's decision to allocate a significant 17,737 sq.m plot of state land near Limassol Port for the construction of the Ministry's headquarters. A shift from an earlier plan by the previous administration, this approach bypasses the complications associated with renting.
Meanwhile, on the international front, Hadjimanoli is currently representing Cyprus at the London International Shipping Week 2023. At a grand reception, she showcased Cyprus' shipping advantages to a global audience, highlighting the nation's impressive growth in the sector — from 95 shipping firms in 2010 to an expected 400 this year.
As a testament to Cyprus' maritime prowess, Hadjimanoli emphasized that the country boasts the third-largest shipping fleet in Europe and is among the global top 10 shipping nations.
In her ongoing London engagements, she's scheduled to meet British royalty, namely Princess Anne, and will also hold discussions with key figures in the International Maritime Organization.
