Frederick University’s FUF Racing Team To Compete In Italy

Aiming For Top Results At The Formula SAE Student Competition

The fifth Formula-type car constructed by the FUF Racing Team of Frederick University will compete in the international Formula SAE Student competition in Italy from September 4-8.

A press release from the University states that the car was built in the laboratories of the School of Engineering entirely by students of the University, under the supervision of Professor Antonis Londos.

The students of the team are not only tasked with designing and constructing the car, but also with securing sponsors, creating a business plan, designing their uniforms, and taking responsibility for promoting the team's achievements as well as the entire preparation process for the competition.

Participation in the Formula SAE Student competition offers students unique experiences, as it combines theoretical knowledge with practical application in real-world conditions. The press release adds that through collaboration in multidisciplinary teams, students develop teamwork, project management, and problem-solving skills, while also networking with industry professionals in an international environment.

The team's first participation in the competition was in 2017. In last year's competition, the team secured 4th place in the demanding endurance and fuel consumption race, achieving 7th place overall out of 30 university teams from around the world in the internal combustion engine category.

The President of the Council of Frederick University, Natassa Freiderikou, expressed confidence that the students will achieve great results again this year.

On behalf of the FUF Racing Team, Dimitris Koutsoukis, a student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, stated that the team is departing with the goal of achieving even better results than last year, adding that the University provides them with all the resources and support they need to excel.

The team consists of Fotis Manelidis, Michalis Michailidis, Marios Kyprianou, Dimitris Koutsoukis, Alexandros Eskandar, Andreas Londos, Andreas Thrasyvoulou, Aris Irakleous, Frederiki Vraka, Iordanis Kyriakou, Konstantinos Khanappas, Kyprianos Diogenous, Kyriakos Andronikou, Marios Athanasiou, Michalis Panayiotou, and Paris Anastasis.
