September 27th - European Researchers' Night in Nicosia
The Event Returns for the 18th Year.
With the slogan “Mission Possible: Researchers on Board for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,” the European Researchers' Night returns for its 18th year on Friday, September 27th, at the Cyprus State Fair in Nicosia.
According to a press release issued by the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF), from 8:30 AM to 10:00 PM, visitors of all ages will experience an exciting journey in this annual celebration of science, research, and innovation. The event is organized annually by the RIF, in collaboration with major research, innovation, and business organizations in the country, and under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides.
“The initiative is a European Commission project and takes place simultaneously in over 23 countries and 400 cities across and beyond Europe, aiming to promote the culture of research, connect science with society, and highlight the innovative research being carried out by universities, centers of excellence, and innovative businesses,” the announcement states.
The central theme of this year’s event remains focused on the five EU Missions, which aim to develop innovative solutions to global challenges, such as adapting to climate change, cancer research, healthy oceans, seas, coastal and inland waters, climate-neutral and smart cities, and soil and food health.
It is emphasized that during the European Researchers' Night, scientists, academics, researchers, and startup founders will leave their workspaces for a while to present their actions and achievements to the public. “At the Cyprus State Fair, visitors will have the chance to explore more than 60 booths staffed by scientists, witness interactive experiments using technology, multimedia, and simulations, and use scientific equipment through a rich program of activities, games, contests, and entertainment,” the announcement adds.
For the first time this year, science enthusiasts will be able to remotely follow the main stage event via live streaming through RIF’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
