On Saturday, December 14, 2024, Nicosia became a vibrant hub for technology and innovation as DevFest Cyprus 2024 took center stage at the University of Nicosia. Organized by Google Developer Group (GDG) Cyprus, in collaboration with the University of Nicosia, QBeat Technologies, Pale Blue, and Women TechMakers Cyprus the event united tech enthusiasts, developers, and industry experts for a day of engaging talks, hands-on workshops, and meaningful networking.

With an impressive lineup of speakers and diverse topics, the event offered participants insights into cutting-edge technologies and practical strategies for tackling today’s tech challenges.

Dr. Liza Charalambous, CTO and Co-founder of Malloc, opened the event with insights into building privacy-first scalable solutions, emphasizing the importance of user privacy amidst cloud limitations. Ankur Roy, Solutions Architect at Online Partner AB, delved into building and deploying intelligent agents using Vertex AI, providing a hands-on understanding of machine learning in action. Zenonas Kyprianou, CTO of Factory39, addressed the challenges of modernizing legacy code for the cloud-native era, offering strategies for overcoming technical debt. Antonia Symeonidou, a coding tutor and game development leader, inspired attendees with her session on transitioning into tech careers, emphasizing the accessibility of remote work and the potential for career pivots. Angelos Constantinidis, Senior Developer at Jinius, shared his journey of building the Jinius platform, detailing both the triumphs and trials that shaped its development. Finally, Carlos Sanchez, Principal Scientist at Adobe, concluded the lineup with a talk on progressive delivery using Argo Rollouts, showcasing how to ensure seamless and stable software deployments. Together, these speakers provided a rich and diverse exploration of topics, leaving attendees inspired and informed.
