Which Sectors in Cyprus Saw Growth and Which Declined in 2024?
Manufacturing, Construction, Vehicle Registrations, and Tourism See Increases While Imports and Exports Decline
The Statistical Service has released its bimonthly economic bulletin, Monthly Economic Developments, covering the period January–December 2024. The report highlights key economic trends in Cyprus for the past months, along with comparative data from the last four years, available as of February 11, 2025.
According to the report, manufacturing production recorded a 1.8% increase between January and November 2024, compared to the same period in 2023.
The total area of approved building permits reached 1,722.0 thousand square meters between January and August 2024, marking an 18.0% increase over the same period in the previous year.
Meanwhile, vehicle registrations saw a 9.1% rise, reaching 49,616 vehicles between January and December 2024. This includes a 11.2% increase in private saloon cars, totaling 34,254, and a 36.1% surge in light commercial vehicles, which reached 4,638 units, compared to 2023 figures.

The Consumer Price Index increased by 1.8% from January to December 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, reflecting moderate inflation.
However, total imports dropped by 7.0%, amounting to €12.26 billion for the year, while total exports fell by 12.5%, reaching €4.12 billion.
Meanwhile, the number of tourist arrivals reached 4,040,200 in 2024, marking a 5.1% increase compared to 3,845,652 arrivals in 2023.
