George Pantelides to Lead OEB - Who Is Who
Pantelides' Uncontested Election Will Be Officially Confirmed at the May 7 General Assembly
George Pantelides is set to assume the presidency of the Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) after running unopposed in the election process.
As Brief reports, since no other candidates submitted their nominations by the 12:00 p.m. deadline, his election will be formally announced during the OEB General Assembly on May 7, in the presence of the President of the Republic, key authorities, and social partners.
Before the official announcement, a Board of Directors meeting will be held to confirm his election, as required by the federation’s statutes.
Until then, Antonis Antoniou will remain OEB President, with his two consecutive two-year terms set to conclude in May.
Pantelides will serve a two-year term until the next General Assembly in May 2027. At that time, he will be eligible, by exception, to seek re-election for a four-year term, following a recent amendment to OEB's constitution.
Under the revised rules, future OEB presidents will serve a single four-year term, replacing the previous structure of two consecutive two-year terms that had been in place for decades.
However, the updated statutes allow a former president to seek re-election if at least one four-year term has passed under a different president.
George Pantelides is the Head Partner of the Advisory Services Department at Deloitte Cyprus.
He also serves as Chief Strategy Officer at Deloitte Cyprus and is a member of the Deloitte Middle East Consulting Leadership Team.
With over 20 years of experience in advisory services, he has worked with both local and international organizations across the public and private sectors.
Pantelides holds a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Manchester, an MBA from the University of Liverpool, and an Executive Diploma in Leadership from Harvard University.
