Instability in the Middle East is directly affecting the European economy and the competitiveness of the European Union, President Nikos Christodoulides said.

He made particular reference to the impact on energy prices, supply chains, and the broader geo-economic environment.

The President of the Republic took part in a teleconference with a group of European leaders to discuss ways to strengthen the competitiveness of the European economy.

According to a written statement by the Government Spokesperson, President Christodoulides stressed that developments in the region make it even more urgent for the European Union to move forward with coordinated policies that will enhance its energy security and strategic resilience.
