The UN Secretary-General expressed his firm commitment to the resumption of Cyprus negotiations.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres declared his determination to act toward restarting the Cyprus peace talks, responding to a related question from the Cyprus News Agency.
“I am not pessimistic, I am not merely optimistic — I am determined to resume the talks,” Guterres stated when asked about the Cyprus issue during a press briefing ahead of next week’s UN High-Level Week in New York.
The Secretary-General also confirmed that, on the sidelines of the summit, he will hold meetings with the leaders of both communities in Cyprus. These discussions are expected to focus on creating momentum for the stalled negotiations and exploring pathways for meaningful dialogue.
