Most Active and Least Active MPs in Cyprus Parliament Revealed

Oxygen for Democracy’s Nomoplatform highlights the most and least engaged lawmakers.

A new list ranking the most and least active members of Cyprus’s House of Representatives has been published, based on data collected through the digital platform Nomoplatform, operated by the NGO Oxygen for Democracy. The platform monitors parliamentary activity and aims to make the legislative process more transparent to the public.

The evaluation covered the current parliamentary term up until the last plenary session on July 10, measuring MPs’ activity by the number of legislative proposals submitted and written questions addressed to ministries.

According to the index, the five most active MPs were Charalambos Theopemptou (Greens), Alexandra Attalidou (Volt), Giorgos Koukoumas (Akel), Christos Orphanides (Diko), and Stavros Papadouris (Greens). On the other end, the least active were Andros Kyprianou (Akel), Marios Karoyian (Dipa), Nicolas Papadopoulos (Diko), Stefanos Stefanou (Akel), and House President Annita Demetriou (Disy).

Within the parties, activity levels varied widely. In Disy, Nikos Georgiou, Giorgos Karoulas, and Kyriacos Hadjiyiannis ranked among the most active, while Demetriou, Efthymios Diplaros, and Nikos Tornaritis were the least. For Akel, Koukoumas, Andreas Pasiourtides, and Irini Charalambidou topped the list, whereas Kyprianou, Stefanou, and Kostas Kosta were the least active. Among Diko’s MPs, Orphanides, Panikos Leonidou, and Chrysis Pantelides led in activity, while party leader Papadopoulos, Christos Senekis, and Pavlos Mylonas were at the bottom.

Smaller parties also showed contrasts. In Edek, Andreas Apostolou was the most active despite recently announcing his departure from the party, while former leader Marinos Sizopoulos ranked lowest. Dipa’s Marinos Moussiouttas and Alekkos Tryfonides were most active, in contrast to party chief Karoyian, who was among the least. The Greens’ Theopemptou and Papadouris stood out as some of the most active MPs overall.
