Revised Housing Schemes: In Effect on March 2 for Mountainous, Border and Disadvantaged Areas
A €5,000 increase will be granted to the maximum subsidy amount for applicants in rural areas.
The revised and enhanced housing schemes for mountainous, border and disadvantaged areas will come into effect on March 2.
Speaking on Proino Dromologio, Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou noted that it is now permitted to combine a housing scheme with energy upgrade schemes for mountainous and border areas, raising the total subsidy to as much as €100,000.
He also stated that the maximum subsidy amount for applicants in rural areas will be increased by €5,000, while additional areas are being included in the list of beneficiaries.
Mr. Ioannou added that there will be special categorization for large families, with increased amounts and expanded income criteria, and that an additional 20 percent subsidy will also be granted to displaced persons.
As part of efforts to increase supply, the Interior Minister said that with funding of €28 million, the Cyprus Land Development Corporation will proceed with the construction of 250 units, while the development of 500 affordable homes on state land in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos is also being promoted.
