UN Envoy Holguín Postpones Visit to Cyprus
UN cited an 'unforeseen issue.'
The UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Cyprus, María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar, has postponed her planned visit to Cyprus, originally scheduled for today, due to urgent personal reasons.
Last Friday, UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric had announced that Ms. Holguín would hold separate meetings with the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders, Nikos Christodoulides and Ersin Tatar, respectively, on September 2.
He also noted that she would meet with the leaders’ representatives (negotiators), members of the Technical Committee on Youth, and the Committee on Missing Persons, among other interlocutors.
This morning, UN Spokesperson in Cyprus, Alim Siddique, confirmed the postponement of Ms. Holguín’s visit.
In a written statement, Siddique explained: “Due to an unforeseen issue, the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy, Ms. María Ángela Holguín, will reschedule her visit to Cyprus.”
