New Multi-Storey Parking Facility in Paralimni

€6.7 Million Project Aims to Ease City Centre Congestion and Boost Commercial Activity

A new three-storey parking facility with a capacity of 296 spaces is under construction in central Paralimni and is expected to be completed by autumn 2026, according to an official announcement by the Municipality of Paralimni–Deryneia. The project, with a budget of €6.76 million, is considered a key step toward addressing the chronic parking shortage in the area.

Speaking at a ceremony held on Thursday at the construction site, Mayor Giorgos Nikolettos described the development as “a significant step forward for the city, as it will substantially contribute to solving the parking problem in the centre of Paralimni.”

The project broke ground in March 2025 and is expected to be completed within 18 months, as per the contractual timeline. It is co-financed, with five-sixths of the funding provided by the Department of Town Planning and Housing, classifying the project as part of an urban development initiative.

The new facility is being built adjacent to the Municipal Hall in the city centre. It will span three levels, offering 296 parking spaces, including:

  • 17 spots designated for persons with disabilities

  • 3 spots equipped for electric vehicles

  • An elevator for public convenience and accessibility

Mayor Nikolettos also emphasized that the parking facility will not only alleviate congestion in the city's core but also increase visitor flow to the local commercial centre, especially in light of the upcoming redevelopment of the town square and historical centre.

In his remarks, the Mayor thanked the Department of Town Planning and Housing for its co-financing support, as well as the contractor, N. Gavriel & Sons Ltd, and the Municipal Technical Services Department for their contributions to the project.
