The Mayor of Nicosia and Chairman of the Board of the Inter-Municipal Development Projects of Nicosia Ltd., Charalambos Prountzos, signed a contract today for the project "Study and Supervision of the Development of the Pedieos Urban Linear Park" with Saverios Vrahimis on behalf of the contractor AF MODINOS AND SA VRAHIMIS ARCH ENG.

The contract budget amounts to €1,356,000 plus VAT.

According to a statement from the Municipality of Nicosia, the project study will commence in early October 2024. Construction will take place in 16 action areas along the length of the Pedieos River and will be executed in phases. Phase A is expected to last 43 months, while Phase B is anticipated to be implemented during the next Programming Period of 2028-2034.

“The redevelopment of the Pedieos River will serve as the 'green' axis on which the development of the involved municipalities—Nicosia, Strovolos, and Lakatamia—will be based, and it will exemplify sustainable urban development at both national and regional levels,” the statement notes.

Finally, it is emphasized that the project is being implemented under the Cohesion Policy Program "THALEIA 2021-2027," co-financed by the EU, the Republic of Cyprus, and the municipalities of Nicosia, Strovolos, and Lakatamia.
