China: First National Regulatory Framework for Humanoid Robots

A Strategic Plan From Beijing to Accelerate Technology and Mass Production in the Sector.

Beijing has taken a significant step toward regulating the rapidly developing humanoid robotics sector by drafting the first national regulatory framework.

According to market experts, this development is expected to accelerate technological progress, reduce production costs, and pave the way for the mass commercialization of the sector.

The regulatory framework, which was presented at the Annual Conference on Humanoid Robots and the Integration of Intelligent Technologies (HEIS) held on February 28 in Beijing, is the first comprehensive high-level plan for China. It covers the entire industrial chain as well as the full lifecycle of humanoid robots and the intelligent technologies they incorporate.

The regulatory system was developed with the collaboration of 120 research institutions, companies, and industrial users. The cooperation framework was organized by the relevant technical committee of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
