The RESTART 2016–2020 Program for Research, Technological Development, and Innovation, implemented by the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF), has a total budget of €306,900,000.

According to an announcement from State Aid Control Commissioner Stella Michailidou, the Commissioner recently issued a decision regarding this State Aid Measure, confirming it as a continuation of the previously approved program. The measure had been deemed compatible with EU state aid rules under Decision No. 462 of November 19, 2024, and has now been updated with the addition of the “AI in Government” (AI IN GOV’T) program.

AI in Government Program Details

The AI in Government Program aims to develop innovative solutions using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to address specific challenges faced by public authorities.

• Total Measure Budget: €306,900,000

• Implementation Period: Until December 31, 2026

• Implementing Authority: Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF)

Eligible Participants

Participation is open to a wide range of organizations and individuals, including:

• Research organizations

• Higher education institutions

• Scientific and professional associations

• Businesses and business associations

• Non-governmental organizations

• Public services and utility organizations

• Individuals, such as academics, scientists, researchers, technical staff, students, and pupils
