Cyprus Government Holds Meetings with NVIDIA, Oracle, and the Cypriot Diaspora in Silicon Valley

Christodoulides Discusses AI, Cloud, Supercomputing and Investment Opportunities with NVIDIA, Oracle and Venture Capital Firms

President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, met with executives from NVIDIA to discuss the application prospects of the company’s technologies in the public and educational sectors, along with investment opportunities in data centers and supercomputing.

According to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis, the visit was part of the President’s outreach to major tech companies. During his visit to NVIDIA headquarters, Christodoulides met with Giannis Iosifakis, Global Vice President of Sales and Business Development for HPC/Supercomputing, Jay Puri, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations, and their team.

Letymbiotis noted that the discussion focused on the global momentum of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the application potential of NVIDIA’s technologies in Cyprus’s public and educational systems, and broader investment opportunities in the fields of data centers and high-performance computing.

"The President was guided through NVIDIA’s state-of-the-art facilities by Mr. Iosifakis and his colleagues, where he was briefed on the company's cutting-edge technologies and their fields of application," Letymbiotis stated.

Digital Transformation and Cloud Infrastructure with Oracle

President Christodoulides also met with Oracle’s leadership to discuss Cyprus’s digital transformation, particularly focusing on cloud infrastructure.

In a post on X, the President said he met with Luke Kowalski, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Compliance at Oracle.

“We discussed Cyprus’s digital transformation, emphasizing cloud infrastructure and how Oracle can support the digital shift of our country and economy,” he stated.

According to Letymbiotis, the meeting aimed to further strengthen Oracle’s contribution to Cyprus’s digital transformation, focusing on enhancing cloud infrastructure and supporting the digital modernization of the state and its economy.

In another post, Letymbiotis wrote that Cyprus “aims to become a regional hub in the Eastern Mediterranean by leveraging its geostrategic location and dynamic technological development.”

He added that discussions also included potential government collaboration to serve Cyprus’s strategic goals and needs, as well as launching a skills development initiative to nurture local tech talent and create high-quality job opportunities.

Tech Investment Potential and Strategic Positioning of Cyprus

On Tuesday, President Christodoulides continued his meetings with major tech and investment companies in San Francisco, focusing on Cyprus’s potential in technology, green growth, and innovation infrastructure.

According to a post by Government Spokesperson Letymbiotis, the President met with Pete Briger, Executive Chairman of Fortress Investment Group; Alex Rampell, General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz; and Stan Chudnovsky, Co-Founder and Venture Partner at NFX—leading investment funds in the tech sector.

Letymbiotis highlighted that discussions centered on Cyprus’s investment potential, especially in areas such as technology, sustainability, and innovation infrastructure.

Cypriot Talent in Silicon Valley as a Strategic Asset

Later on Tuesday, President Christodoulides participated in a roundtable discussion with Cypriots professionally active in the wider Silicon Valley area, where he emphasized the invaluable value of Cypriots excelling abroad.

According to a post by Letymbiotis, the President underlined that these individuals are a living testament to Cyprus’s capabilities and potential.

“Their presence in key sectors of the global economy—such as technology, innovation, and biotechnology—enhances the image of Cyprus and opens new paths for collaborations, investments, and knowledge transfer,” Letymbiotis stated.

He noted that the country's strong economy, favorable business environment, and targeted innovation policies are now creating meaningful opportunities and serve as powerful incentives.

Letymbiotis also stressed that the government's “brain gain” strategy is founded on the belief that people are Cyprus’s greatest asset and that their active involvement can play a decisive role in the transformation of Cyprus into a modern, competitive, and leading state in the region.
