Only 18% Have Verified Their SIM Cards

The deadline for prepaid SIM card verification is November 10, 2025 – thousands risk losing their numbers if they don’t act in time.

Around 77,000 prepaid SIM card holders out of a total of 400,000 in Cyprus have completed the mandatory verification process so far. With only 39 days remaining, users who fail to comply risk losing their mobile number. The regulations on SIM cards are being presented to Parliament’s Plenary today for approval.

Speaking to OffsiteNews, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Marinos Moushiouttas, stressed that no extension of the set deadline is expected. Once again, he urged users to proceed immediately with verifying their details, warning that “time is running out.”

He also raised concerns regarding SIM cards used in security systems, alarms, and elevators, noting that failure to verify them on time could put lives at risk.

Telecom Providers Required to Submit Updates

Moushiouttas added that mobile providers have been asked to submit updates every 15 days, reporting the number of customers who have completed verification.

According to the legislation passed by Parliament in April 2024, prepaid SIM card users must verify their details by November 10, 2025, or they will lose their numbers. Parliament had granted an 18-month grace period for telecom companies to inform the public and carry out the verification process.
