The Success Stories of SportsTech and MusicTech Startups in Cyprus

Cyprus’ innovation story is unfolding faster than ever.

Cyprus’ innovation story is unfolding faster than ever. In recent years, our ecosystem has gained global recognition. Yet what is even more exciting is the breadth of innovative activities spanning in areas we once barely discussed. SportsTech and MusicTech being two of those.

SportTech

Urko Pardo and his team at MentisVR are reimagining athletic training through highly immersive VR environments that help athletes practice decision-making, technique and mental readiness under realistic, high-pressure scenarios.

Darefore, co-founded by Marios and Panayiotis, is empowering athletes and transforming performance optimisation with data-driven tools that enhance training and unlock potential.

Capsule Skateboards, led by Andreas Charalambous, is building virtually unbreakable, 100% recyclable skateboards; unlocking new possibilities in design, durability and action-sports performance.

Nicolas Constantinou and his team at Vycto provide sports brands with all the tools they need maximize the impact of their digital sponsorship activations.

Constantinos Charalambides has brought to life Science of Sports offering comprehensive data and analytics solutions for young athletes.

MusicTech

Back in August I wrote about The Beat That Never Stops: Technological Innovations That Shaped the Industry. We are in the age of sonic innovation where creativity meets code, and sound meets software.

OjOO Ltd has rapidly elevated its groundbreaking platforms, Soundsnap and Beatopia, into global creative powerhouses, fuelled in part by pivotal support from the INNOVATE programme. With strong commercial traction and fresh investment, this is a brilliant example of Cypriot creativity scaling internationally. Powered by RIF’s Innovate Programme, too.

Octave Technologies is delivering an ultra-portable, accessible solution for musicians and producers, enabling artists to run their favourite sound software without complex setup. They are gaining great market traction, receive excellent reviews and a National Association of Music Merchant’s Best of Show Award. A very promising startup from our Pre-Seed portfolio.

MP Controllerbyte Ltd, having received funding through RIF’s PRE-SEED and SEED programmes, has brought to market MPMIDI: a cutting-edge controller for professional creators. Already selling, already reviewed, already embraced by the community.

The momentum is real and it continues to accelerate.

Every week, we meet founders building in sectors we could not have imagined a few years ago. And not every story is complete yet and that’s perfectly fine. Innovation is a process, not a straight line.

The creativity, the technical depth, the resilience of our founders make it impossible not to believe in the future we are shaping together.

At the Research and Innovation Foundation, our mission remains clear:

Empower innovators. Enable success. Turn vision into reality.

Come on Doers. Let’s keep pushing to reach new heights.
