The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Famagusta honors its 70 years legacy

The Official Anniversary Dinner of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Famagusta was held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, in Ayia Napa. The event celebrated the 70-year legacy and contributions of the Chamber to the business and economic landscape of Cyprus. During the dinner, the Chamber showcased its enduring work since its establishment in 1952, honoring all those who have contributed to its mission over the past seven decades.

Throughout its long history, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Famagusta has not only survived the challenges and difficulties arising from the invasion in 1974 but has also played a catalytic role in supporting the business community through various means. Additionally, the Chamber has been instrumental in promoting the development and prosperity of the free Famagusta region, while also actively contributing to the preservation of the bonds between the young generation of Famagustans and the occupied city, as well as the identity of Varosha.

Following the 1974 invasion, the displaced entrepreneurs of Famagusta, carrying with them their experiences, skills, and knowledge, re-established themselves in business and contributed significantly to the post-war Economic Miracle in various sectors. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Famagusta, with its members scattered across the free areas of Cyprus, is the only refugee Chamber of Commerce in the region. For 49 years, the Chamber has operated outside its headquarters, a testament to the unwavering strength and vitality of the local entrepreneurial community.
