Cyprus-Flagged Ships: 2,226 Inspections, Just 63 Detentions
The White, Grey, and Black Lists reveal Cyprus among top-performing flag states for ship quality and safety.
Between 2022 and 2024, Cyprus-flagged vessels underwent 2,226 inspections, with detentions totaling just 63.
These results come from the inspections carried out through 2024 and the latest performance lists of flag states and recognized international shipping organizations released by the Paris MoU.
The White, Grey, and Black Lists cover a broad range, from lower-performing flags with elevated or very high risk to those with excellent performance records.
This assessment is based on the total number of inspections and detentions over a rolling three-year period for flags with at least 30 inspections during that timeframe.
For 2024, the White List — which includes flags with low detention rates — counted 40 flags, among them Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Italy, Finland, Japan, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Bahamas, France, Cyprus, Greece, Hong Kong, Sweden, China, the Marshall Islands, Liberia, the Isle of Man, the United States, and others.
