Invest Cyprus Highlights Investment Opportunities in Abu Dhabi
Reflecting the Agency’s Proactive Approach in Fostering Sustainable and Responsible Investments in Cyprus
At the recent UNCTAD’s World Investment Forum in Abu Dhabi, which took place from October 16-20, Invest Cyprus, the national body responsible for attracting foreign investments to Cyprus, made a significant impact. The forum focused on addressing the challenges posed by concurrent global crises and their impact on investments across various sectors including food safety, energy, healthcare, supply chain resilience, and production capacity.
A press release by Invest Cyprus revealed that the organization played a pivotal role in the forum. Marios Tannousis, CEO of Invest Cyprus, actively participated in panel and round-table discussions, where he presented the island nation's investment strategy. His presentation underscored Cyprus's unique strengths in drawing foreign investments, pivotal to driving sustainable economic growth in the country.
Tannousis elaborated that Cyprus’s approach to investment attraction is structured around three key pillars, with a particular emphasis on luring businesses and investors from the technology sector. Additionally, he highlighted Invest Cyprus's commitment to providing detailed, sector-specific information to investors, including insights into local investment opportunities, and an overview of Cypriot legislation, policies, and incentives.
During a session titled “Investing in time of crisis,” Tannousis underscored the vital link between investment decisions and the economic, financial, and sociopolitical climate of a country. He referenced various initiatives by Invest Cyprus aimed at supporting investors through economic and environmental challenges.
Furthermore, in his role at the Global Council of the World Association of Public-Private Partnerships, Tannousis emphasized Invest Cyprus’s focus on promoting projects that meet Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria. Key areas of this initiative include tourism, hospitality, renewable energy, health, and technology, reflecting the agency's proactive approach in fostering sustainable and responsible investments in Cyprus.
