Larnaca Marina Announces No Mooring Fee Hikes for 2024

The Marina Is Set to Undergo Significant Upgrades in the Coming Year

Kition Ocean Holdings announced that there will be no increase in mooring fees for recreational boat owners at Larnaca Marina in 2024.

Panos Alexandrou, the founder of Kition, conveyed that the decision emerged after multiple internal company meetings for the 2023-2024 period. It signifies the "company's commitment to maintain positive relations with boat owners."

Furthermore, Kition Ocean Holdings has committed to bear costs exceeding 100,000 euros for the procurement and installation of a new jetty. This will be placed adjacent to the existing wooden jetty, facilitating mini-cruises and serving tourists over the next three years. This is concurrent with ongoing construction projects at Larnaca Marina.

Alexandrou explained that this initiative represents the marina investors' goodwill and their desire to cooperate with professional boat handlers. Their aim is to support and minimize any potential disruptions during the project's development phase. Another goal is to revamp the historic jetty, transforming it into a popular spot for both Larnaca's residents and visitors.

"Our vision is for the jetty to become a central attraction," said Alexandrou. "We want to enhance the showcase of recreational boats and provide a space where the public can walk along the jetty, enjoy quality time with music and food, and safely watch the ongoing construction at the marina."

Referring to the event for the marina's clients, Alexandrou expressed that it was an excellent opportunity for relationship-building and establishing effective communication with boat owners. "Boat owners will have the platform to share their suggestions and minor issues with the company, so we can jointly discuss and decide on sustainable solutions. We aim to avoid conflicts through proper communication and collaboration," he added.

Alexandrou also addressed rumors about project delays. He explained that structural issues emerged with the historic "Nautilus" building and certain jetty points, which required extensive underwater work. The building had sustained damage over the years, and asbestos roofing needed removal, leading to some delays in the project's timeline.

Upcoming Enhancements

Meanwhile, the marina is set to undergo significant upgrades in the coming year. Notably, the restoration of the pier is scheduled to be completed by early 2024, paving the way for the foundation stone-laying ceremony in April. This will be followed by major construction within the marina and infrastructure work leading to the Dekelia road. In addition, Kition Ocean Holdings, the company overseeing the project, has partnered with renowned firms to develop and modernize the marina to meet contemporary international standards.

In the aforementioned statement, Kition Ocean Holdings emphasized its commitment to collaborating with all stakeholders and partners. The focus is on elevating marine tourism and attracting both tourists and locals. They assure that visitors will be able to enjoy the Larnaca Marina even during its renovation phase.

The company also mentioned simultaneous plans to upgrade and repair existing piers and undertake deepening projects in the marina. Technical teams from Kition Ocean Holdings are urged to expedite the works to ensure the marina's smooth daily operations are uninterrupted.

On the subject of parking and security, extensive inspections are anticipated in the marina. The goal is to guarantee seamless activities for boat owners and visitors, both within and outside the marina.
