Frederick University, ESA Host "The Sun and Us"

Frederick University Partners With the European Space Agency to Explore Humanity’s Connection to the Sun.

The educational exhibition The Sun and Us, organized by Frederick University in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), opens to the public.

According to an announcement, the exhibition explores the secrets of space weather, such as solar flares and the magnificent Northern Lights.

Through audiovisual installations, graphic displays, interactive exhibits, and a screening of the award-winning documentary “Northern Lights - a Magic Experience,” visitors learn how these phenomena impact technological systems, such as satellites, power grids, and aviation, as well as biological systems on our planet.

The exhibition is hosted at Frederick University's "Stathmos" Multipurpose Hall (13 Dimitriou Chamatsou St., Pallouriotissa, 1040, Nicosia) and is open to the public every Saturday in November, from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Scheduled guided tours for organized groups (in Greek or English) will take place at 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm, with prior registration required here. Admission is free.

The exhibition is part of a collaboration between Frederick University and the European Space Agency (ESA), and its content is derived from research conducted by the Ionosphere and Space Weather Research Group at Frederick University, led by Dr. Charis Charalambous. The tours are conducted by Dr. Christina Oikonomou. The exhibition is supported by the Cyprus branch of the IET (The Institution of Engineering and Technology).
