The 76th Emmy Awards took place on Sunday, September 15, at the "Peacock Theatre" in Los Angeles, with the series "Shogun" being the big winner of the night, sweeping a total of 18 awards. "Hacks" was the biggest surprise of the evening, winning the award for Best Comedy Series, beating "The Bear."

Eugene and Dan Levy were the presenters of this year's awards, marking the first father-son duo to ever host the Emmys. The 76th Emmy Awards were broadcast live on ABC.

"Shogun" became the first non-English-language series to win the award for Best Drama at the Emmys. The historical epic took home 18 awards in total, including wins for lead actors Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai. "The Bear" may have lost the Best Comedy Series award to "Hacks," but it won 11 awards overall, the highest number of Primetime Emmys ever won by a comedy series in one year.

It was also a big night for the mini-series "Baby Reindeer," which won the top award in its category, while creator Richard Gadd won awards for his (autobiographical) script and performance in the mini-series. Jessica Gunning also won an award for her role as the woman who stalks Gadd’s character.
