Basel to Host Eurovision 2025

EBU and Swiss Broadcaster SRG-SSR Announce Basel as the Venue for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in May 2025

Basel has been announced as the host city for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, as confirmed just moments ago by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Swiss public broadcaster SRG-SSR. Forty days have passed since Basel and Geneva were shortlisted as the final contenders in the selection process conducted by SRG-SSR to determine the host city for Eurovision 2025, which will take place in Switzerland next May.

Just over a month after the last update regarding the Eurovision 2025 location, the mystery has been solved, and Basel will welcome Europe’s biggest television event next May.

The 69th Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled for the second and third weeks of May. The first semi-final will take place on Tuesday, May 13, the second semi-final on Thursday, May 15, and the grand final will be held on Saturday, May 17.

Eurovision 2025 will be held at St. Jakobshalle. St. Jakobshalle is an arena located in Münchenstein, near Basel. It is primarily used for indoor sports and concert events. Originally, the arena had a capacity of 9,000 people and opened in September 1976. It is the home of the Swiss Indoors men's tennis tournament.

After its renovation, the arena can now accommodate up to 12,400 spectators. Over the years, it has hosted numerous concerts and sporting events.
