President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly considering 53-year-old Republican Senator Marco Rubio as a potential Secretary of State, according to information shared by the New York Times, citing three sources familiar with the matter.
The Cuban-American senator, vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, has been viewed as a leading candidate for the role. He had previously been a prominent contender for Trump’s vice-presidential pick. However, the report notes that Trump “may still change his mind at the last minute.”

Meanwhile, Trump is also said to be considering Republican Congressman Mike Waltz for the role of White House National Security Advisor, according to a source who spoke to Reuters. Waltz, a retired U.S. Army Green Beret known for his firm stance on China, would bring a hardline approach to the position.
Waltz, a devoted Trump ally and National Guard colonel, has been vocal about the need for the U.S. to prepare for potential conflict with China, frequently criticizing China’s actions in the Asia-Pacific region.
