CyStat Reports
Tourism revenue in Cyprus reached €69.2 million in January 2025, marking a 53.1% increase compared to €45.2 million in the same month of the previous year, according to the Traveller Survey published by the Cyprus Statistical Service. The surge in revenue is primarily attributed to a significant rise in tourist arrivals from Israel and the United Kingdom.
The average per capita tourist expenditure in January 2025 amounted to €617.65, compared to €513.52 in January 2024 — an increase of 20.3%.
Israeli tourists, who made up the largest market segment in January 2025 (21.1% of total tourists), spent an average of €176.13 per day, up from €118.34 last year. British tourists, the second largest group with 16.7%, spent €57.75 per day on average, compared to €52.73 in January 2024. Polish tourists, the third-largest market with 14.1%, spent €69.97 daily, remaining at similar levels to the previous year.
Total tourist arrivals in January rose by approximately 27.5%, with notable increases from key markets. Arrivals from Israel surged from 9,148 to 23,704 — a 159% increase. Arrivals from the UK rose from 16,321 to 18,701 (+14.6%), while those from Germany increased from 2,952 to 4,114 (+39.4%).

In addition, the number of registered unemployed persons in March 2025 slightly declined to 10,210, down from 10,285 in February 2025, based on seasonally adjusted data from the Cyprus Statistical Service.
According to records held by the District Labour Offices, the total number of registered unemployed at the end of March stood at 11,073, compared to 12,761 in February.
Compared to March 2024, there was a year-on-year decrease of 1,204 persons or 9.8%. This decline is mainly attributed to the sectors of financial and insurance activities, construction, trade, accommodation and food services, and to a drop in the number of new labour market entrants.

Lastly, the Industrial Turnover Index reached 128.1 units in January 2025 (base year 2021 = 100), registering a 5.8% increase compared to January 2024.
In the manufacturing sector, the index reached 126.8 units, showing an 8.3% increase year-on-year. Growth was also observed in the mining and quarrying sector (+18.2%) and in water supply and material recovery (+0.7%).
However, the electricity supply sector recorded a negative change, decreasing by 4.2% compared to January 2024.
