Borrell Visits Cyprus on November 22-23 as Part of Middle East Tour

EU High Representative to Address Event in Nicosia on November 23

Outgoing EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell will visit Cyprus on Friday, November 22, and Saturday, November 23, as part of a regional tour. During his visit, Borrell will participate in a meeting of civil society organizations from both the Israeli and Palestinian sides, according to a European Commission announcement.

On Saturday, November 23, Borrell will serve as the keynote speaker at an event hosted in Nicosia by the Two-State Coalition for Israel/Palestine, also known as the Geneva Initiative. This coalition, comprising civil society organizations from both sides, advocates for a negotiated solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the creation of an independent Palestinian state coexisting alongside Israel.

Borrell's visit comes amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and escalating military tensions in Lebanon. According to the announcement, the visit presents an opportunity to continue discussions with regional partners on steps toward a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon and a longer-term path based on the two-state solution.
