AI Efficiency: CYENS Delivers Automated Financial Processing System to Opium Works
Leveraging state-backed innovation funding, the CYENS Centre of Excellence has deployed its FIN-AGENT prototype, an intelligent system designed to strip manual friction out of invoice workflows for Opium Works.
The FIN-AGENT project aims to modernize financial procedures.
The CYENS Centre of Excellence has successfully completed the FIN-AGENT project for Opium Works Ltd, delivering an artificial intelligence-based prototype system to automate invoice processing.
The FIN-AGENT system was developed by the CAIR research group at CYENS with the objective of reducing the time spent on repetitive financial management tasks. The system enables the automatic extraction of key information from invoices, the verification of financial data, and the generation of structured data exports for accounting workflows.
The prototype supports multiple invoice formats, including PDF files, scanned documents, images, and DOCX files. In addition, it features an ingestion capability to pull invoices directly via Gmail, as well as a human-in-the-loop validation interface, which allows financial personnel to review and correct extracted information before it enters the accounting workflow.
The expected contribution of FIN-AGENT is the creation of a more efficient and reliable invoice management process, enabling staff to spend less time on manual data entry and more time on data verification, exception handling, and higher value-added financial tasks.
The FIN-AGENT project (INNOVOUCHERS/0725/0033) was funded by the Research and Innovation Foundation under the 'INNOVATION VOUCHERS 2024' Program, and through the Recovery and Resilience Facility of NextGenerationEU.
