Which Country Opened an Embassy in Cyprus?
The two countries exchanged views on developments within international and regional organizations of mutual interest.
The Republic of Cyprus welcomed Kazakhstan’s decision to open an embassy in Nicosia and appoint an ambassador in the near future. The announcement was made during a meeting between Andreas S. Kakouris, Director-General of Cyprus’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Roman Vassilenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, held in Astana on Monday.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the second round of political consultations evaluated the results of agreements made during the first round. Additionally, the discussions reviewed the progress of implementing agreements signed in the past year.
“The Cypriot side welcomed Kazakhstan’s decision to open an embassy in Nicosia and appoint an ambassador, particularly following the recent establishment of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Astana,” the statement noted.
Discussions also explored actions to further enhance bilateral relations in key areas, including investments, tourism, consular collaboration, and multilateral cooperation within the framework of international organizations where both nations participate.
Beyond bilateral relations, the meeting addressed regional and international developments, including the latest updates on the Cyprus issue.
During his visit to Astana, Kakouris also held a separate meeting with Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alibek Bakayev. The two officials exchanged views on developments within international and regional organizations of mutual interest.
