Who Is ‘Emily Thompson’, the X Account Behind the Video Shaking the Christodoulides Government
An investigation into the account behind the undercover video targeting the Christodoulides government.
'Emily Thompson' is the name used by the X account @EmilyTanalyst, which published the video alleging campaign finance irregularities involving the government of Nikos Christodoulides and triggered widespread political and media reaction in Cyprus.
The United Kingdom based account, created in July 2022, describes its operator as an “independent researcher, analyst and lecturer” focused mainly on U.S. domestic and foreign policy. Until early January 2026, it had a relatively limited following, numbering only a few hundred users, and was not previously known in the Cypriot public sphere.
An examination by FastForward of the account’s activity on X shows that, in the months preceding the publication of the video, @EmilyTanalyst was primarily engaged in reposting and commenting on U.S. political developments, including elections, congressional activity and domestic policy debates. The account also frequently shared analysis related to international affairs, particularly European security, Russia’s war in Ukraine and broader geopolitical developments.
In the days before the video was made public, the account had also posted commentary on Cyprus, including posts related to the country’s assumption of the EU Council Presidency and political developments surrounding reunification efforts.
Today, @EmilyTanalyst published what it described as a “bombshell” undercover video, claiming it had been received from a non identified source.
Beyond social media, articles authored under the name 'Emily Thompson' have appeared on analysis platforms, including Eurasia Review, where the author is described as an independent geopolitical researcher and private consultant. The same 'Emily Thompson' has published two articles on The American Spectaror, and multiple ones on The Thinking Conserative.
FastForward's investigation confirms that 'Emily Thompson' who authored those articles is the same individual operating the @EmilyTanalyst account. It remains unclear whether the above publications conducted background checks or identity verification to confirm the real identity of the individual authoring the articles and operating the @EmilyTanalyst X account.
No publicly available information confirms the identity, institutional affiliation or professional background of the person behind the X account.
