Apple Launches Tap to Pay on iPhone in Cyprus

iPhone Users in Cyprus Can Now Accept Contactless Payments Without Additional Hardware

iSquare, a Quest Group company and the official distributor of Apple products in Greece and Cyprus, announced that Apple has launched Tap to Pay on iPhone in both countries, as well as in Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Iceland, Luxembourg, and Malta. The feature enables millions of merchants to accept contactless payments directly on their iPhones—securely and effortlessly.

With Tap to Pay on iPhone, merchants can accept contactless payments through a supported iOS app on an iPhone XS or later, running the latest version of iOS. At checkout, the merchant simply asks the customer to hold their contactless credit or debit card, iPhone, Apple Watch, or other digital wallet near the merchant’s iPhone. The payment is then completed securely using NFC (Near Field Communication) technology.

No additional hardware is required, allowing merchants to accept payments from anywhere within their business. Apple is working closely with leading payment platforms and app developers to expand the availability and integration of Tap to Pay. Payment providers and developers can embed Tap to Pay into their iOS apps, making it easy for merchants to enable this secure, user-friendly feature.

Tap to Pay on iPhone is available on the following platforms:

  • Adyen

  • Revolut

  • SumUp

  • Viva

  • Worldline
