A standard home kitchen, two teenage best friends, a full-on mixer, and way too many ingredients and cherries, and love for spreading smiles. That’s the origin story of Cherry on Top, a Nicosia-based boutique bakery that went from sleepover baking sessions to a fully-fledged, order-on-demand hustle.
Founders Cleo and Elina represent the new wave of Gen Z entrepreneurs: turning a passion project into a brand before even finishing school.
Seeds Planted in the Kitchen
For Cleo and Elina, baking was never meant to become a business. It began with experimenting after school, making birthday cakes for friends, trying new cookie recipes, and spending hours in the kitchen simply because they enjoy it.
Like many great ideas, it began entirely for fun. But as their sticky aprons gathered more flour and their recipes got finer, the compliments started flooding in. Friends and family weren’t just enjoying the treats; they were asking, "Wait, can I order some?"

Like the best startups, Cherry on Top solved a problem people didn’t know they had until they tasted it.
DMs started rolling in: “Wait, can I actually buy these?” They had to make it official under a simple, high-impact ethos: Homemade with love. Small batch. Cherry-fueled. > "Two teenagers with sticky aprons and big, sweet dreams.
